Full Class Descriptions

Note: These following categories are rough approximations and are only provided as a general guideline for your information. Each teacher will have their own different approach, philosophy, and style. Try classes from each of the instructors and see who you like the best.

Class Descriptions

After School Yoga (1:M)

For children 7-10 years of age which will contentrate on mobility, breathing, and relaxation to give kids the tools to help them deal with life.

This class will be preregister only. If there is a session going on feel free to drop in.

Beginner Yoga (1:M)

A slower-paced class reviewing the fundamentals of correctly aligning the body to do yoga poses in the most beneficial way. For students who have learned the basics or are looking to learn the basics.

Chair Yoga (0:G)

A slower-paced class that shall concentrate on the use of a chair for support in your Yoga practice, and will include and visualization and light meditation. This class is also appropriate for wheelchair bound, or limited mobility individuals.

Donation Yoga (x:M)

This class will change and might be different each time we give it, but will most likely be a mixed level Yoga class. It will be given for free and we will be taking donations that will be given to a, hopefully local, charity. This is to be determined as we are still in the process of taking care of the details.

Flow Yoga (2:M)

Moving from one yoga pose to another in a fluid way. For advanced beginners and upward seeking a more vigorous practice.

Introduction to Yoga (1:M)

This slow paced class truly focuses on the very basic poses, alignment, concepts, and breathing. This is for the truly beginning beginners.

This class will be preregister only. If there is a session going on feel free to drop in.

Kids Yoga (0:G)

This class is for chlidren ages 3 - 7 years of age. In this wonderful class will play amd improvise with little stories and animal movements allowing us to introduce Yoga in a new and suprising way to your children.

Intermediate Yoga (2:M)

In this intermediate level classic Hatha Yoga class with Kristen, you will be transported to a whole new state of mind!

Kristen's Sivananda style Yoga brings freshness and fun into every session, while incorporating a wide range of classic Yoga asanas along with helpful breathing practices, meditation and mindfulness. Join her and experience the deep peace and vitality that come through the practical Self-awareness of Yoga, which means "Union".

Lunch Yoga (X:M)

with Kristen: A quick refresher over your lunch break. Discover how easy it is to release stress and tension and experience the deep peace and rejuvenation that come through the practical self-awareness of Yoga. Learn relaxing and gently realigning practices you can use anytime, anywhere. This is your time for relaxation, wellness and fun!

with Marielle - An easy flow yoga class with extra attention to awareness and relaxation of the different body parts as well as spending some time on Sun-Salutation.

"Mommy" and Me Yoga (0:G)

This class is for parents (moms and/or dads) and their chlidren ages 0 - 2 years of age. This wonderful class will help you to bond with you children and for your children to have fun while improving their flexibility and increasing their ability relax and concentrate.

This class will be preregister only. If there is a session going on feel free to drop in.

Restorative (0:G)

Ready to be relaxed and renewed for the rest of your day? This slow class is appropriate for people of all skill levels, and good for those who are recovering from injuries or who have chronic pains. We shall be using a props to assist in holding the mostly floor-based postures to maximize the effectiveness of the stretches.

Silence Class (3:V)

A slower-paced but strenuous advanced class that starts in silence from the very moment you enter to room until after you leave. The class will start with a short standing flow warm-up. After that the instructor will call out the pose and each pose will be held from 1.5 - 2 minutes, before moving silently to the next one. The class will end with 5 minutes of meditation.

Many of these classes may be held in candle light to help you to relax you and to enter into a meditative state.

Teen Yoga (1:M)

For ages 11-17 years of age which will contentrate on mobility, breathing, and relaxation to give kids the tools to help them deal with life.

Vigorous Flow (3:V)

We shall start with 5 minutes of warm-up which will run into series of vigorous flow postures and practicing advanced postures or advanced forms or postures.

Workout Yoga (1:V)

Workout Yoga offers a fast, rigorous pace in the 26 poses that we will explore for a fun and thorough work-out. The class includes elements of Bikram Yoga, Flow Yoga and others.

Yoga Dance (0:V)

A frenetic mix of dancing and Yoga. You do not need experience in either to enjoy and benefit. For more info see Yoga Dance complete program description.

Yoga For Your Soul (0:G)

For those who are seeking a deeper relaxation and clear mind. This class will help you to tune your thoughts to listen your body.

This class will consist of 3 parts:

  • a slow and easy paced flowy warm-up
  • meditation
  • chanting

Skill Level

Mixed (Level X)

Mixed level classes appropriate for people of all skill levels due to the instructor planning on customizing the class for varying skill levels.

Classes: are generally varied in their content. See the specific class descriptions for more info.

Introductory (Level 0)

Introductory classes for those new to Yoga, and/or are generally not physically demanding.

Classes: will concentrate on breathing and fundamental Yoga poses and alignment. These classes are generally ideal for those who suffer from muscle weakness or other infirmities, or who want to just tip their toe into the deep waters of Yoga.

Beginner (level 1)

Beginning classes for those who understand Ugi breathing and have some basic poses and alignment under their belts or who want to learn.

Classes: will concentrate on solidifying your basic poses, learning more basic and some intermediate poses, while improving your basic alignment and breathing.

Intermediate (Level 2)

Intermediate classes for those who have a solid grasp on the fundamental poses, and are able hold poses longer or are able to perform a few of the advanced postures or advanced forms of postures.

Classes: will concentrate on solidifying your basic and intermediate poses, learning new intermediate poses, and work with some of the more advanced poses or advanced forms of poses. We will also start to work on holding poses for longer to increase your strength and endurance.

Advanced (Level 3)

Advanced classes for those who can routinely perform some of the advanced postures or advanced forms of postures and hold them for 1.5 minutes or more.

Classes: will concentrate on solidifying your basic and intermediate poses, learning new advanced poses, and work with some of the more advanced poses or advanced forms of poses. We increasingly work more on holding poses for longer for strength and endurance as well as getting into more meditation and chanting.

Exertion Level

Gentle (G)

This class may focus on simple poses, slow movement, and/or breathing.

These classes are generally suitable for the elderly or those who are seeking a lower physical practice.

Classes that involve a physical component will use many props to ease its practice.

Moderate (M)

An average class as are typically found in most Yoga studios.

Vigorous (V)

A faster-paced class or one that is physically demanding.
